On February 27, 2017, a national culinary competition, Culinary Fight Club, will host its first of three competitions at Central Restaurant!
This event brings the passion of a high-energy kitchen, the thrill of a timed competition, and a fundraiser for a non-profit organization dedicated to provide service and support to hungry men, women and children across the country called Fight2Feed to the River Region.
At each event, chefs will race for their pantry and have 45 seconds to choose from 15 provided ingredients. From there, contestants have 60 minutes to create the most gourmet dish that represents their take on a monthly theme and provide samples for the audience and judges to vote on a winning dish.
This month’s theme is Savory Chocolate.
All chefs will be asked to create a non-pastry dish utilizing chocolate.
Join us and watch 4 Alabama chefs plate up their elevated savory chocolate dishes.
Who will be crowned the FIRST Alabama Culinary Fight Club Champion?
Tickets are only $40 (UNTIL FEBRUARY 20) to watch the live show, taste all the competing chefs dish, sample beer from statewide breweries and enjoy some samples from other local restaurants while you watch the competition!
Theme: Savory Chocolate

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Montgomery, AL (Friday, September 11, 2015) On Thursday, September 10, 2015, a small fire originated inside the kitchen hood ventilation system. The fire was contained inside the hood system and thankfully our fire suppression system worked as designed. The fire department ensured all staff and diners were evacuated safely and verified the fire was extinguished.
We experienced some minor water damage but the dining room itself is in good condition. The hood system will require some repairs and
our staff is working hard to reopen next week.
On behalf of the Central staff and owners, we would like to thank...Read more

There were hits and there were misses. Desde el Jardin started as a simple thing really.
I wanted to cook, and I wanted to strengthen the relationship between Central and EAT South. I so enjoyed Farmer Jet coming in with baskets of fresh produce, all freshly harvested, and I remember just grabbing a legal pad and writing everything he brought down. This wasn’t something I just started doing, it’s my natural approach to food. I write it all down and then I start to let the juices flow...
Music plays a HUGE part of what I do.
I came up in some crazy serious “no music” kitchens, and also in some “Chef is listening to Metallica’s Ride the Lightning full blast because he’s prepping” kitchens&he...Read more

My first visit to Montgomery was early summer of 2011 after meeting several Montgomerians while at the Front Porch Revival in Gadsden, AL. I heard several compelling stories about the current status and bright future of Montgomery, but one thing they all said,
“It’s all happening in #MGM”
Amidst Dixie Cups full of Truckstop Honey and smelling like pig smoke and grease, I took those conversations in stride and listened carefully. A year later I get a call from an enthusiastic guy wanting to open a brewery and looking for a chef. I figured I would humor him, enjoy a free beer and dinner, and politely decline. What I thought was a simple dinner turned into a tour of the downtown farm, the Alley, the stadium, walking and ta...Read more
